 at least 1 gram or 1000 mg/day. Fish oil contains the essential fatty acid, omega-3, which may help with symptoms of dysmennorhea in adolescent girls and women. |

Vitamin E
 200-400 IU/day. Although it is not clear how vitamin E can affect menstrual pain, supplemental vitamin E (200-500 IU) taken before and during initial days of menstruation may reduce menstrual pain and severity. |
