Vitamin Dietary Supplements Reviews & Information
Introduction to Vitamin Herb University
Since the early 1990's, there has been much research and published findings on use and efficacy of dietary supplements. Keeping track of all the information on dosages and the role of dietary supplements on health and disease is labor and time intensive. To assist health care professionals, the clinicians and scientists at PharmaviteŽ LLC have developed the Vitamin-Herb University (VHU). Vitamin-Herb University contains comprehensive data on more than 70 vitamins, minerals, herbs and other dietary supplements, and helps pharmacists stay informed on proper use of supplements. Vitamin-Herb University Offers vitamin information, health supplement reviews, dietary supplements, herb information and drug herb interaction, and a section on the role of nutrition and disease states and lifestyles. This information can then be shared with your customers to help them make the right choices to stay healthy. Hopefully, the information found on this website will enable you to quickly and accurately answer consumer questions about supplements, and thus promote safe and responsible supplement use.

On the VHU website, PharmaviteŽ LLC has described the newest information on dietary supplements and how lifestyle and medications affect individual nutritional status. This guide is intended as scientific and educational information for professional use only and not for product labeling. It is not intended for distribution to consumers (i.e. lay persons). Consumers should consult www.naturemade.com for information.

VHU was developed by an internal team of nutritionists and nutrition scientists who reviewed prestigious medical journals for published sources of information on the latest clinical findings on supplements. The current VHU contains more than 785 journal references.

Disclaimers:
Drug-Nutrient interactions noted in the separate table and in each subsequent section are based on purported and possible interactions. Inclusion of an effect does not imply that such an effect will occur in every person. Individuals must be independently assessed for any effect of medications on nutritional status or effect of a nutrient on the action of a medication.

Information on the relationship between supplements and disease or health state is provided for general information in order to convey a balanced review of the scientific literature. In many cases the relationship between a supplement and a disease is tentative and additional research is needed to confirm such a relationship. Scientific substantiation on use of supplements in maintaining good health or helping reduce risk of disease is variable and dynamic. For this reason, the Nutrition & Disease or Health State table is provided as a general information tool for health care professionals.
